Looking good. That's cool that you've had that boat in the family for so long.

I agree. I have allot of memories on that boat, including learning to water ski. When I replaced the floor, a couple of years ago, only a few rivits needed tightening up. It is still a very solid boat after all these years. Good for another 40. It will probably be my son doing the next floor and upgade pkg, then. :)

Maden voyage with new casting deck. Son loved it and was not tippy. The only issue we had with all the mods were the rear ped seat and rod rack. The rear ped seat is an old mushroom design. In the high position it will end up dropping down after a days use with a 250lb guy. ;) Did this even if tightening the handle as much as possible. I will drill and pin the inner sleave so it will stay in high position. Rod rack was only temp mounted to test position, but during the road trip, slid down. Need to hard mount.

Sir you did a great job with your boat.
I have a 15ft 65 Starcraft. handles well ..it's like a gocart / lots fun
40hp 66 Evinrude took awhile to get the bugs out..now runs great. You will like your boat.
Since I posted my pictures built a windshield ..I got for fee one that was to large & changed the size & fit it to the boat...Just a thought for you. Have a god time with your boat.

Thanks, we have had it out a number of times now. Its working out better than I thought it would.

I considered some of the plexiglass wind shields but have not decided to add one yet. I'd want it to flip down out of the way, for when the cover is on.

Looks like you have been through this before. :) Good fishing to ya.

Re: 1967 14' Starcraft Phase II

I know this is an old thread, but I keep going back to look at your boat. I've got a couple of questions.
1) In the fitting of your casting deck, I noticed you moved your gas tank from the back of the boat (the more traditional position) to the front under the new casting deck. On the 14 ft, this would seem to make a big difference in the fore and aft weight of the boat, and give it different handling characteristics. Is this why you made the move, or what were your reasons? How has it worked out?
2) How high is your helm seat from the deck? I'm struggling to get a good driving position.

Just a comment. Great looking boat! You have done a great job in keeping the boat looking good, and making a good thing better!
