Just got a 1937 Johnson 3.3H.P. S/N 253685 (S/N not sure hard to read) Motor is dirty but looks good. Everything is loose that should be. Compresson is good (have not checked it with gauge yet). What is correct spark plugs. What is correct oil and oil/gas ratio. It appears to have a water pump (not sure) if so were would water come out. Any idea of value. Thanks for any and all help.

Re: 1937 Johnsons Questions

That should be a Model 210, piggy.

Spark plugs are Champion C7 or modern Champion equivalent. Try gapping at .040".

Fuel mix was 16:1 with SAE 30W, but with TC-W3 is 24:1. 1 quart TC-W3 outboard oil to 6 US Gallons of unleaded regular.

The only way I know to find the value of antique outboards is to sell it and see what you get. You might try aomci.org.

aomci.org can't tell you the value. In fact, at the top of their forum there's a statement that you needn't ask. But they probably can tell you anything else you need to know about that motor. They will tell you that the modern equivalent of Champion of C7 is 516/D16.
