I'v got a 1988 medelist with a 165 Hp 3.7 L Mercruiser, I'm going to puchase some 12" x 9" Nauticus Smart Tabs but not sure if I need the 60 lbs. or 80 lbs. actuators. Ha s anyone tried these on a similar boat?
Also my dinged up factory 19" pitch aluminum propeller tops out at 42 mph @ 5000 rpm, I need to replace or repare the prop. Has anyone tried a 21"P alum or 4 blade plastic/composit prop?

Hello,
Why are you going to SmartTabs? The hull on the Medalists is a very good hull design and it sounds like your performance is about where it should be. Is it porpoising? Might respond to a new prop or a different type of prop...

Re: 1901 Medalist Smart Tabs

Hi, thanks for the response,
The boat does perform very well for regular boating, no porpoising, and can pull up a 220 lbs. slalom skier even though I took off the small factory swim ladder and added a large 2’ x 7’ fairly heavy platform, except for the following two scenarios:

1) When fishing, I put a decent sized cooler on the platform that I connect to an externally transom mounted bilge pump (a home made live well, which works great). The boat still gets on plane, but not nearly as fast and porpoises even when trimmed properly.
2) When not fishing were often tubing with small kids. At the low speed, the little ones want to go, the boats not on plane and really digging in and dragging its you know what. Reading Nauticus’s add I thought it might level off the boat, at low speed, and make less wake. For the older daughter there is no problem the faster the better
I need a new prop; do you think I should just get the same size and type?
