Can anyone help me with this problem. I just got a Starcraft 1800ss 1996(fiberglass). It came with a 115 merc that was ng. I put a 135 Johnson that weighs 378 lbs. (2001) and put it in the water. The water line at the transom is 5 inches below the top of the transom. The drain in the motor well is 2 inches below the waterline and I have 2 inches of water in the well.
According to the info I have seen the boat is rated for a 150 and should be within the specs. I pumped all water off, boat is dry inside ie no leaks.
I,m stumped any ideas?
Thanks Paul

I would have a marine surveyor take a look at the hull with a moisture meter. Might be holding some water in the hull somewhere...
- Scott

How much additional weight is loaded aft in the boat, and were you standing aft when you noted the waterline on the transom? It may well be a "balance" issue ?
