early 90's 175 Efi with a 150 ECM

I'm getting a beep beep beep beep horn. three seconds after start up.
I'm assuming it's an oil warning horn.

checked the oil level sensor on engine tank it's ok
checked the motion sensor on oil pump voltages all checked out
checked to make sure oil was pumping all good

this thing is getting oil

tried a used oil warning module didn't work.

how many other things could it be?

thanks in advance

Re: 175 EFI Horn

First make sure the engine oil tank is completley full.
Sounds just like mine...I would not trust the used module. I put a new one on and it solved problem.

May also be switch box...first try the green wire on a different cylinder.

there is no level sensor on the boat tank just on the engine tank. the oil is full in the boat and engine tank. i will try and switch the green wire to a differnt cylinder

thanks

Re: 175 EFI Horn

The oil module compares the ignition pulse of the green wire to the pulse of the oil pump rotation sensor, if a difference then it alarms, if both signals check out OK then replace the module.

Re: 175 EFI Horn

the green wire is getting 170 volts at idle...good no?

all cylinders around the same...so i don't feel i need to take the green wire to another cylinder.

i tested the motion sensor by first disconnecting the white wire and testing the voltage from the module. 10.8 something a little low but should .2 of a volt be the problem?

then reconnected the white wire and tested the blue/white in series voltage rised and dropped with every two rotations of the engine which it's supposed to do.

i put a used module on...but still the same....next step is get a brand new module?

thanks again,

Re: 175 EFI Horn

ok so i got the new oil warning module today put it on...still the same horn

i took the green reference wires to number three cylinder then number two cylinder...still the same horn

what else could it be?

i don't think it can be the switch box because i took the green wire to both switch boxes and still had the horn.

this thing is killing me

please help....

i don't like just disconnecting the horn i really want this fixed...it also runs good for a while sometimes a whole day...then just drops rpm to idle and won't go back up

thanks again
