I am new to boating and have a 1970 120 hp 140 what ever that means. I noticed today that I had a clicking sound when I rotated the prop by hand, then I noticed that the nut would turn a small distance by hand. I was going to put the air wrench on it but i thought I better ask someone first.

Ayuh,...

It should Click, when turned opposite the gear that's engaged,+ Lock solid in the other direction....

The Nut should be torqued to about 50ft.lbs.,+ then locked in place with the bendable tab....

If you want to save yourself a Headache,....
Be sure to Slather the propshaft with Grease before you put the prop on the shaft in the 1st place....

The best is a water proof grease, but as Bondo's signature says

"Any Grease is Better,..... Than No Grease at All......."
