I have two positive wires coming from the trolling motor, one negative coming from the TM and then a crossover wire, what is the proper way to hook them up, also today i broke a bolt holding the starter in place and it broke off flush with the block, what is the easiest way to get it out?
Thanks, in advance
Buzzking

Buzz - On the bolt, save yourself some grief and take it to a machine shop. There are other ways to do it - eg eazy out - which ain't easy and often leave you worse off.

i work in machine shop, and i can tell theyll just use an easyout.

be sure to soak it down with WD40 for a few days, helps loosen it up

drill out the center of the bolt to the size easy out you need to use. I find the reverse spiral type easy outs work the best. and dont skimp on price, the more expensive sets dont usually dont snap as easy.

and before you put it back to gether, by a can of never seize and coat the bolt with it.

-------

oh if your not highly cooridnated, just take it too a shop. a snapped easy out is not fun to deal with

Re: 12/24 volt system

bluechips - When you use an easy out do you usually use a drill press and clamp the piece to the table so that it is centered? I would go that route if I had the press. The couple of times that I have tried it I had to use a portable electric drill and either could not get the drill centered or the easy out would break in the hole that I drilled. Any tricks of the trade??

Use a center punch to make a divot in the old bolt to get your drill to start at the right place. Drill a hole about 3/8" deep so that the easy out will fit. The easy out is a reverse spiral that get's wider as it get's deeper, so the easy out can only thread into the hole so far until the old bolt starts turning.

It is also advidable that you get two good deep cycle batteries and use the 24V setup. You will gain almost 2X as much battery time that way.
