I am trying to think through a lowwer unit problem I have been having before tearing into it.
I can't remember how things worked the last time I had it apart.

When you push down on the shift rod does the whole propshaft move back and engage the clutch dog with reverse gear or does the shaft stay in one position and the clutch dog slide on the shaft?

That would be a 98 115 if that information is needed.

Re: 115 gear case question

Clutch dog moves on the splined part of the prop shaft Mike. If you don't have the parts manual, here's the BRP site addy. Just click on engine diagrams and follow the prompts.

http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/
