    Running Bilge Pump

    How often should the bilge pump be run? My 98 Sea Ray (BR185)has an automatic float switch that runs the pump when the water level gets high enough(when I'm hosing out the storage area ). Since my boat has an automatic switch do I need too run the bilge manually at anytime?

    In place of muffs

    Instead of hooking up ear muffs to my I/O Mercrusier 4.3L ( Sea Ray 185 BR) why can't I just lower the stern drive into a oil barrel of water for a couple of minutes.Any problem with this as long as I make sure I have the lower stern unit submerged and I don't gun the engine?<br />P Sully
