This is the primer I'm talking about.

    Found me a project trailer...

I have a picture of me holding a tape measure against the hub and I did an eyeball guess from memory of the hub thickness. Shows how smart I am. Anyway, all this stuff about suspension components is above my head. I'll take measurements of other stuff if you want, but I'm out of advice to give.

    Prime and Paint Aluminum Boat

Primer first, let it cure overnight at least. Then it gets sanded, be careful with your orbital, you'll sand through it pretty quick. You'll have to clean it and go around with a light looking for any spots you missed. You could also rub it with a dry guide coat to help you see what you sand...

    Prime and Paint Aluminum Boat

With the size of those bare spots, I would recommend a good Direct to Metal primer. It has replaced the old acid etch primers. We use Excel primers at work, with good results. Their dtm primer can be mixed as high build primer and sealer, so you can just use one product throughout. 220 is a bit...

    Found me a project trailer...

I don't know how close the measurement needs to be, but I would eyeball the hubs at 1/4" thick, so that would make 87 inches.

I also measured the axle. I don't know where it's supposed to be measured from, so I went with the back of the hub. I got 86 1/2

Ratdude, do you want any more pictures of the trailer for reference? I'm offering for visual reference only, not trying to sell anything.

To the moderator who deleted my post. Understood, your house your rules.

    Found me a project trailer...

I've only seen a few of the turn buckles. Yeah, it's old stuff. Mostly what I see with more current stuff is a second shorter strap as a safety. Sometimes it's a second short strap and hook stitched onto the main winch strap, sometimes an independent strap going from bow eye to an eye on the...

Just swap the old bow stand to the new trailer. You need to be able to get the eye up against the roller or it will bounce while towing.

82 Starcraft MR 180 floor, slight refit and leaks

"What gun?" Solid rivets take an air hammer with a concave bit that cups the head. You hold a solid metal block on the shank end, while someone good with the air hammer hits the head and the rivet mushrooms. Pop rivets, the ones with the hole in the head and the shaft running through, have...

    Found me a project trailer...

I've used this a little bit working on my truck. You might want to get the trailer sand blasted and spray with this if possible. Just respray any welds or grinsing work as you go...

    Found me a project trailer...

If you're interested, I work in a boat repair shop in Indiana. For your trailer, we could paint it, replace bunks, do some welding and dent removal, maybe lights and wiring. The boss might be able to find a set of fenders, but to have a matching pair you will likely need to replace both. We dont...

82 Starcraft MR 180 floor, slight refit and leaks

For the pop rivets, just get a tiny pin punch or a tapered punch and knock the mandrels back before you drill the heads. Than once the heads are drilled off, you can punch or drill the body out.

82 Starcraft MR 180 floor, slight refit and leaks

Oh man, that one is going to suck. You should be able to slide the floor pieces out, because all of the metal was assembled and painted before everyrhing else was installed. The worst part is you'll have to slide everything under those boxes. It's going to make that job really tedious. You...

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

Depends on how much support the plywood will have, but I would probably use the 3/4 with some good waterproofing.

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

"Bottom panels of birth", so wall pieces? If so, 1/2 would be fine unless you plan to hang stuff from them. If you plan to have something like a grab bar, I would bump it up to the 3/4. The indents on the bottom I would leave alone unless it looks damaged. About the windshiled trim, Scott...

    Transom replacement.

You're on the right track, but screws by themselves aren't enough. You need to distribute the clamping force, otherwise you'll just be clamping the area around the screw head. Screw through some boards to clamp it. Coat the threads in some wax to help with removal. You can add a layer of glass...

    Ideas for using scrap fiberglass.

Sounds like this might be the only way to get some use out of the scraps. Thanks.
