    Electrostatic painting for trailer

Hello all... It is time to address my ugly trailer situation. I got a quote to sand blast and electrostatic paint on my trailer for $425. Is that a decent price and who knows anything about the durability of this painting process? Thanks!

Power T&T for Tower of Power

I found a PTT unit that I want to put on my 72 1150. It is a complete unit with the pump and Mercury switch. What is a fair price for this unit? I am going to pull the pump off this boat but they have another tilt and trip unit with newer hydraulic hoses in the shop that I am leaning towards...

Some observations about the "Boating Experience"

We just returned from another great outing with the old Super Sport. Two days on the water and about twenty gallons of fuel later I have come to some conclusions. Not so much about my boat, but about any boat and the expereince of being out on the water. We were met down at the lake by some...

The job I do to pay for my boat!

I just wanted to post some videos from footage I recorded on my helmet-cam at my place of employment. I have hours of footage but condensed some of the highlights into some short videos. These are from last year and early 2011. I hope you enjoy them...

Anyone use Keel Gaurd or Keel Shield?

I was wondering if anyone has used any of these products, or if they will even work with the shape of the keel on our aluminum boats? We are taking a trip to the lake and I am planning on beaching my boat overnight on the sandy shore where we are camping. I want to protect the bottom of the...

    Kicker on a Super Sport?

Hi everyone, I have my eye on a a 10hp Mercury tiller. It would be nice to have a kicker and to use a smaller engine to troll. My question will there be enough room to mount next to my main engine on top of the transom or will I need to add a bracket to the back of the transom to mount the...

Mercury Outboards on the Water...Post your Pictures

Since it seems that most of the threads here are about engine "troubles". I thought I would start one about engine "trouble free" trips out on the water. There has been some frustrations along the way, and I thought I killed it once, but it has been a solid runner so far. So this is a...

    Opinions on this trailer please...

What do you guys think of this trailer? It is identical to mine...must have been made by the same guy. He is asking $400...what should I offer or what is it worth? My trailer needs to be blasted and painted and needs new spring bushings. Other than that it is solid but I would spend at least...

I tried over in the Merc forums but havn't had any luck. I would like to get this ordered asap if it is the right one. Can any one verify if this is right for a 73 SS18 with a 1972 Mercury 1150...

Shift Cable or Control Box Problem?

Reverse isn't engaging properly, so I did search and came to a couple of conclusions. This is a very common problem and I have it, just not sure where to go from here. I have forward and reverse with a very positive engagement when shifting manually. I have forward and back to nuetral at the...

Tach still doesn't work...or maybe the Rectifier doesn't...? NOW FIXED!

I can't get this old Airguide tach to work. It reads nothing wired to the control box and pegs out at 7K RPM with the brown wire switched to the yellow wire coneection. Is it safe to assume I need a recitifier? Where would be a good place to source one? Thanks!

Bimini size for 18' Starcraft SS...pic request

Hello all...I am going to order a Bimini for my boat. I have decided on sunbrella fabric and measured the width at 74" and it will be 6' long. But I can't decide on the height. I am leaning towards a 36" height for cosmetic reasons and the fact that I am only 5'8". Can you all post some...

    Another tach question...or maybe volt meter...1972 1150

Hello all, I am trying to get the tach working before I put this thing on the water. There are 3 wires coming out of the control box to the tach. Two wires go into the tach through a rubber grommet and one wire runs to the volt meter. Is the volt meter where the tach gets 12v+ from? My volt...

Stream still weak on 72 1150 after impeller change...SOLVED!

I replaced the impeller this morning. It was a realatively easy job. I also replace the upper pump housing because the housing looked like it got a little hot and had some groves in it. It all went back together easily and I got her refired...but the stream still seems weak running on...

    Fuel tank connections?

I just ran all new fuel lines two my switch and two six gallon portable tanks. At the tanks I used a "Yamaha" style connector. Will these work on my 72 1150 Merc, or do I need a Mercury specific connector? Thanks!

    Another Bunk Question...

Tomorrow I am starting the conversion on my trailer from a roller to bunk set up for an aluminum 18ft Starcraft SS. My plan... Two 2X6 bunks around 10' long supported by three trailer crossmembers. Those will support from under the transom up to where the hull starts curving up. The front...

    72 1150 Merc on a 73 Starcraft SS

Hello all... I just bought my first boat. She is an 18ft Starcraft SS with an 1150 Merc (3367838) on the back. Any way of knowing if this is the original power for the boat? Anyway I get her home today and she fired right up after I changed the battery. It is missing, but idles and engages...

    1973 Super Sport...I bought it!

Ok everyone...I am over the little glasser I was looking at. I have moved on to this one. It is an 18' 1973 SS with a 115 Merc on the back. The hull is scratched...from the not so hot looking trailer, but looks solid. The interior was done years ago and the Merc has low hours on it. It is...

    1969 Seaking/Starcraft Bahama? **PICS ADDED!**

Hello everyone! I am looking at purchasing a boat. It is a 1969 Seaking Model number 28150. Looks to be similar to a Starcraft Bahama. It is a super clean little boat. 55 Chrysler runs good and the hull looks great...but...the transom has had the fiberglass cut to expose the deck, which...
