1996 Century Boats 1800 Center Console Refit and Modernization

Yeah, they are tied together. I changed the fluid in the spring, before launch, but it didnt help. So I set the screw at manual tilt, and just lifted it while mooring or beaching. That was fine in the deep lake, had 14 feet at the dock. Now that ill be using it in the back bays, Getting it up...

2022 Splash Of The Year voting

I think we're just getting old. Almost gone is the generation of dragging a 69 Camaro home to work on for a few years. The new generations barely want a car at all when getting a license. And to them, a toolbox is an app that cleans the registry on their phone or laptop.

    Steering Wheel for Tiller Boat?

For small money you can get a long tiller extension handle. That way you can get a feel if moving midship works for you. If it does, you can run that way, or explore a console solution. You can use this system when running solo, and remove it when you have someone up front. Just a thought......

1996 Century Boats 1800 Center Console Refit and Modernization

The ones on Amazon I looked at were black, adjustable, but yeah, im sure ur right. That pic above is from amazon. The price was comparable on their website, with free shipping. Will be just another barely used tool in my box. Scott, how was the rebuild of the cylinders? Mine are over 25 years...

    Gas tank access

You may have a large screw down panel, like a casting deck, for removal of the tank. This may have been added by a PO if you havnt owned it since new. Ive yet to see a red plastic tank installed below deck as OEM, most plastic in hull tanks are an opaque clear or tan. The sending unit is a...

"Christmas staff fund charge" on my marina bill?

Theres a general shortage of slips available in most places, due to the Covid boat craze that went on. I started out renting a slip, but was concerned about not getting renewed and being stuck on the hard for a season. As soon as one came available, I grabbed it. Another benefit is, if you are...

"Christmas staff fund charge" on my marina bill?

I was having dinner with some friends that keep their boat in a full service marina. When the topic of taking on water came up, they said they only get a call "theres a problem with your boat". Im an owner of my slip in a yacht club, as a dockominium.....none of that crap goes on. We would...

1996 Century Boats 1800 Center Console Refit and Modernization

So I havent really messed with any of the boats since before Thanksgiving, Ive just been too busy at work, and doing what i needed to do to finalize the sale of the lake cottage. So in order to not become a couch potato, I guess its time to start the whack a mole process of boat needs. I have...

1985 Bayliner 2750 Ciera Sunbridge Resto

Well I applied it to my Aluminum tank in 2013 and its sticking fine a decade later. I did apply it over ppg alodyne and alumiprep tho. As usual, its all in the prep. Ive never had a problem with it, but frankly, for an under deck tank, even rustoleum would be fine. Hell, the tanks were installed...

    1990 C-Hawk 18 rebuild

In order to get the length, even at only 3/4, you would need the same amount of plywood at double 3/8, the cost savings is just not there. The other thread where they used only 3/4 may have just used butt joints, which is not a good choice and would probably lead to stress cracks from pounding...

Another choice for a built in tank is Por15. Its moisture cured and tough as nails.

    1990 C-Hawk 18 rebuild

You have to consider length of the stringers. If more than 8', you will either need to scarf, or sister. The clearspan strength of plywood is stronger, so if the originals are dimensional lumber, then maybe the 3/4 ply is close to 1 1/2 dimensional. Its easy enough to stager 3/4 ply overlapped...

    1990 C-Hawk 18 rebuild

IMO, its always better to overbuild from factory specs, than underbuilt. Whether you hull was designed by an naval architect, or drawn on a cocktail napkin, an engineer most likely signed off on the design. Production boats were usually built with cost savings in mind, so if 3/4 would do just...

Your gonna put wheels on the gantry's I assume, Mine was tough to move over gravel when I pulled the engines from mine, even wit the inflatable tires from HF. Maybe make a ground track out of 2x12's for the wheels to roll on.

Thumb?...nah, it was a middle finger  lol Personally, if I was gonna use that plastic backer, I'd sand it to scuff it up, spray the adhesive and wrap the vinyl around the edges and tape it with gorilla tape on the backside. That way you dont get any peeling edges. How do u plan to...

1962 Chris Craft Holiday 20’ bucket list resto

The early 70's Checkmate mx's came stock with an all black interior. There is no way in hell I would put that back in mine, sitting on the black seats with shorts would be suicide in the summer here, forget about Florida
