    That would probably work ok, but what you want is laminating resin. You may also want a small amount of cabosil to thicken the resin to fill and fair over the transom cap, whether you replace the cap with wood again, or fair and paint it. Plastic Seran wrap over some scrap wood is all u need...

    If you're only planning to re-laminate the top edge, I would use epoxy resin after cleaning up the mating surfaces. I wouldnt worry about gel over epoxy, especially in a small area, Just remove the blush off the repair (wash with water after cure). Clamp it good with plastic wrapped wood jigs...

    A linear Polyurethane paint, like Awlgrip, or Alexseal are difficult to spray and repair, but an Acrylic Urethane like Awlcraft is similar to an automotive AU like PPG Concept or Dupont, so if can spray a single stage auto paint, you can spray Acrylic boat paint. It's quire forgiving actually.

    A 1.4 tip will be fine for most reduced topcoats...what brand paint are u considering?...the tech sheets will usually tell whats optimum.

    I guess it's time to get this rig ready for paint. I put a final coat of awlfair on the hole block outs today, so I can sand it tomorrow. Then I have to glass the splashwell back to the transom. I want to get some primer on and do a final fairing.

    I've got the Amazon eva on my baitwell lids and gunnel step pads over diamond non skid, Holding up well going on second season. I did use 3m spray adhesive to assist the peal and stick.
