    The engine needs to run for it to shift; do not force the shifter when engine is off!!! Further adjustment can be made on the other end of the shifter-cable (in/on the control-box)

    Yup, not when you're running on muffs As racerone mentioned; the lines could be jammed with debris and may slip shut by being cramped together by the water pushing it. Reverse the water flow or pull the water jacket

    I moved on and swapped the whole "tested good" assembly from the spare over to motor on the boat. Got the motor to run but with the drop down test I noticed #4 is not firing, likely a broken wire during set over. we'll see :{

    :D yeah, I discovered this by running a late '70's Merc. with no LU and it did the exact same thing. and for cooling.......I had shoved a garden-hose onto the copper water-tube. Man, it was loud!!!! without having water as a sound damper. lol
