That was the last struggle! to keep loosening & rotating the crank and then tightening to check but I got it as close as possible, main thing the bearings rotate :)

Update; Well the "good used" piston with new rings are in. I have mentioned on a different post that this time; I did not split the block but did the Re & Re through the intake. I can honestly say this is like surgery............well maybe not, but a lot harder than a game of operation. :D...

The marine gear oil has anti foaming agents, the traditional gear lube is not hence a vent on the gear box. However I use regular 80 /90 gear oil and I can't say that it causes any pressure built up causing seepage or leaking seals/gaskets

Milky fuel in carb intake force 85hp

In addition to Nordin's instructions; I would secure the powerhead to a plank or something to stabilize it, because it will shake/twist

The main problem with honing cylinder-wall is that's almost impossible to get it laser straight, resulting in various clearances along the full length. Man can only hope :(

Milky fuel in carb intake force 85hp

IF the bores have not changed when "cleaning" the cylinder-walls, then yes. I would buy the piston you found on flEa-Bay & test this first Verify with the piston/ring/bore chart

Milky fuel in carb intake force 85hp

The rings you have are not the correct ones, (mislabeled) they overlap so there's no room the locating-pin; that is in the grooves of the piston (opposite of each other) Have a closer look at mine (or google these rings) you'll see they are not the same; regardless of diameter/size I'll have to...

Milky fuel in carb intake force 85hp

Yeah, the ring(s) you got are not the right ones; they should not overlap but bud-up with a slight clearance. to line them up with the location-pins on the piston Strangely I could not find the required clearance in the manual?? these can be filed-down as Nordin suggested

Milky fuel in carb intake force 85hp

These piston are used for many HP & years, I would verify the part# of the connecting-rods to see if they're correct

I'll look tonight at the rings I have (same part#) but yours don't look right?

I have attached a piston / ring chart that may come in handy. It may be easier/cheaper to go with Wiseco pistons & rings than to find the correct piston$ ??? now that you have to do all 3

Milky fuel in carb intake force 85hp

I recently have tried a method I read to remove the piston without splitting the bock & just honed 1 cylinder wall. I bought a used standard piston & now waiting on new piston-rings
