    Roller To Bunk Conversion

My goodness that’s a lot of rollers. You weren’t kidding. I agree, if set up properly that’s an awesome trailer.

Water in bilge? Bilge pump runs too often.

Also forgot about SEI parts. Those are really good kits as well.

    1979 Glastron Carlson CV-23 restoration

Gulp is right!!! That’s some expensive plywood! Could have saved yourself tons of money using ACX, or BCX exterior grade plywood.

Advice on transom , stringers and floor rebuild

Mine are 3/4” plywood. The sun deck on my Chap is split into 3 sections instead of lifting up as one unit. My layout is similar to how you describe you want yours to be.

Need Advice - 14 Hurricane SD2200 - Forward lockers not draining well - need advice

Possible, those do go bad, but more likely it’s the switch, or horn button. Use a meter or wire a small 12 light to the horn terminals. If you get 12v or the test light illuminates when you push the horn button it’s the horn. If not it’s further upstream. It’s a very simple circuit that can be...

    08 Mustang Advice

Yeah a lead foot will definitely kill fuel mileage. I’ve got the 2014 with 5.0 and currently getting 21.4 mpg. Mines a daily driver, so no major mods. My daughter’s boyfriend has a 2012 that’s tuned with C/A intake, Roush exhaust, and supercharger. It gets around 8 mpg. I’d guess the V6 model is...

    Humility

I agree, touring the Kennedy Space Center was pretty humbling to say the least. There is more processing power in this iphone I’m typing on then in most, if not all of those Saturn era launch controls, not to mention in the vehicle itself. And yet what do we do with all this technology at our...

    08 Mustang Advice

I say upgrade to the coyote motor…..I know, I know it won’t directly fit and requires a host of other work. But if they put the new motor in older fox bodies….anything’s possible. Ok back to reality…..

    Wood rot HELP

Like all the posts above. If you want to keep the boat and do the work yourself, read the numerous threads. If you do decide to rip into it, you’ll build it better than the oem built it. It’s a challenge, it’s expensive, but rewarding.

Water in bilge? Bilge pump runs too often.

Definitely buy the more expensive bellows. Either quicksilver or Sierra are good. If you buy the cheaper versions of these bellows, they are more rigid and more prone to popping off or tearing. Same is true of the gimbal bearing. Use a quality bearing. Also watch some videos so you get an idea...

    Mid cabin bilge

I don’t have any experience on these cruisers. But like most boats of this era, they weren’t built well and much of the structural elements were not properly encapsulated leaving the wood cores to become water logged and eventually rot. Freeze thaw cycles exacerbate the process. For areas that...

Seems to me you could stand up a restoration business on these boats…..very nice, professional work. I’m enjoying following along.

Need Advice - 14 Hurricane SD2200 - Forward lockers not draining well - need advice

The horn and GPS should be simple circuits. You need to determine if they get 12v power. You need a meter to test for voltage at the switch, then through the switch to the horn. Same is true for GPS, is it getting 12v?

    1990 Bayliner 2651 resto

It would make sense that as the bilge area is being sprayed with gel, they would hit the key hole as well. When I restored my Chaparral, I made sure I wrapped the keyhole in glass and a nice layer of gelcoat. The transom needs to be strong and water proof.

    Mid cabin bilge

Hopefully you’re right and it was contained to that. But it is an old boat, so make sure you do a thorough survey.

At this point anything that’s rotten needs to be replaced. If the center section is the only rotted area replace it. This looks like a nice boat and you’re off to a great start.

    Mid cabin bilge

Welcome to iBoats. Looks like there needs to be more investigation. Looks like a nice boat, though not very entry level. That could be a massive amount of work and money depending on the shape it’s in.

Water in bilge? Bilge pump runs too often.

The outdrive is pretty easy to remove, just watch a YouTube video for tips. This is really something you should do anyway, I pull mine annually. You are most likely going to find that the bellows are leaking. Since water is coming in through the gimbal housing you’re going to want to change the...
