Are wheel locks the way to go?

I guess since on the farm we had both types, we differentiate between drawbars and inserts. If I was asked to go fetch a drawbar, I’d probably be hit over the head if I brought an insert, LOL.

1980 Beachcraft I/O Pretty but Rotten

With a closed bow I couldn’t imagine not decapping the boat if it’s built with a wood core. With a 1980’s boat the rot will be everywhere. The fact this company touts glass core is interesting. Still, the foam would almost certainly need to be replaced. The decision is yours. Can you handle it...

Help getting the Henry O project on the water

I had an ‘89 Johnson 90hp with VRO. It was very easy to remove that massive pump and replumb. A Johnson impulse pump from the same year(s) will bolt right on to the block since these motors came with or without VRO from the factory. A motor that old I would definitely get rid of the VRO and...

Are wheel locks the way to go?

We have draw bars on tractors. The hitch can be swung on different angles depending on what you’re pulling along the draw bar. At least that’s what I’ve always called a draw bar. Our Farmall M and H had these built into the tractor, our Ford had an attachment we put on the 3 point hitch. Like...

1977 Crestliner Muskie 7**, Outboat Restore Project

I definitely like this idea. I did something similar but I did bolt through the deck. The captain chairs for example. I placed the pedestal bases on an encapsulated plywood disk that was PB’d to the floor. The thought here was that the bolt holes securing the pedestals were higher than the deck...

    Wood rot HELP

What he is saying is that boats rot from the bottom up, not the top down. You need to follow the rot and remove it all. It may require a complete gut job to do it right and get rid of all the rotten wood.

Are wheel locks the way to go?

I’ve heard it said, locks are just to keep the honest people honest. If some goon wants your stuff bad enough, they’ll take it. That said, in my mind the average thief will have bolt cutters and basic tools. A pad lock is easy pickins. Wire rope is harder to get through. Nothing is impossible.

Dry fuel line feed from tank--normal?

It seemed to me at the time when I replaced mine, they were universal. Just need to find the correct thread and barb size.

Check out @kcassells build….. no garage required!! Also I think @chevymaher used one of those HF portable garages for all his work.

    1979 Glastron Carlson CV-23 restoration

I can’t picture this in my head…..so the wood core is rotted and gone and your sandwiching steel plates to the stringer? Then glassing it all together with the rotted core inside? Maybe I misunderstood…….

1977 Crestliner Muskie 7**, Outboat Restore Project

I predrilled and countersunk all my holes, then dipped each screw in resin making sure to get a good coat. Used thickened resin to fill all the countersinks, then glassed over the deck.

    Liquid Transom hmmmm?

Was getting ready to mention SeaCast for motor mounts but remembered you are converting to outboard. There are all kinds of fixed and adjustable motor mounts and swim platforms with outboard mounts. It really depends on what you’re after. There are literally hundreds of designs.
