    What your saying makes since but the key is holding! I haven't tried that submerge test with no impeller housing attached. I will but I would not understand why water wouldn't enter that cavity. I'll check

    I not submerging it that deep. A couple inches below water level. Plate can only go on one way. I've tried to put it on differently and will not fit but one way.

    cavity is fine, open. also replaced the screen .

    I have replace the impeller 3 times. The cup and housing twice. The lower intake screen once. The impellers are turned in correct direction. The key holds impeller to the shaft. I hook a drill to the shaft and spin it in clock wise position in a tank of water. I can not get it to pump water...
