    ... on a 1993-2002 9.9hp Johnson Evinrude. Had to set it around 3.5 turns to get it to idle in a bucket without sneezing or dying. Seems high, the older generation was only 1.5 turns

    I've used both 12 and 15 and they're both great . The work well as an all purpose anchor with no sharp edges.

    I have 8 outboards with interchangeable parts. They all start the same, with exception to this one. There parts are there, and free to swap, minus a little labor, with exception to new plugs. I figured this way it's a process of elimination.

    Thanks for your replies. I checked the spark. It was questionable. Sometimes would , sometimes wouldn't . Changed the CDI and Coils from a known working motor. Still hard to start. Bought brand new plugs. Still hard to start. How do I check for high fuel level

    Anchors and Chains.-

    I have a danforth but don't use it. Nothing sharp stays inside my inflatable. I do use a 12lb river anchor. And also have a claw type as a backup.

    The seller says the 2 liter ultrasonic dish is : 5" x 5" x 3.25" It narrows at the bottom to 4" X 4" x 3.25" Would this fit a carb , or would I have to flip it and clean twice .

    Would purchasing an ultrasonic cleaner solve the issue. Have my eye on a brand new 2 liter unit with heater for under $80 How do you adjust the float.

    1995 Johnson 9.9 has been sitting for years Starts perfect, idles perfect. Linkage / Butterfly opens 100% Only gets 75% power at full throttle. Needs a bit of choke to get 100% What's the cause

    Cowl latch is broken : Is there a way another way to repair this in order to keep the cowl on ?

    By design this is prone to failure. And will likely break again during transport. Surely there has to be a better solution

    The top half attached to the cowl is essentially a zip tie .
