I recently purchased a used boat with a mercruiser 470 engine. While running this past weekend at about 3800rpm the engine failed. I am afraid the engine is seriously damaged. It won't even turn over now. Is it worth rebuilding or should I choose a different engine? Is a 1983 Pursuit 2000...
I have a 1983 pursuit 2000 w/4cyl merc block & ourdrive. I want to make a h.p. increase. Is it more trouble than it's worth? If it's possible what engines can I bolt up to it?
Someone told me that at one time Mercury's 115hp engine had a "2-4" operation where at low rpm the motor ran on two cylindars and at high rpm it ran on all 4. Is this true? When did they produce this? Is it still used? Was it any good?
I have been looking for a used Starcraft Fishmaster. A new boat is not in the cards for me. The few that I have seen, which are just plain to far to travel to, all seem to be 1996's. Is this just a fluke? Or was there something wrong with this vintage? Any opinions would be appreciated.

Anyone have an opinion on a small 4 stroke outboard? I have been looking at 5-6hp 4 strokes, Honda, Yamaha, Merc - Tohatsu - Nissan (all 3 the same)? These are all sgl cylinder, do any run better than the other?<br /><br />Scott
