    Engine tune-up spray

No it is Not the Same as SeaFoam, as it actually does soften Carbon, so as to free up sticky Rings. SeaFoam, being mostly a very light Oil, simply makes a lot of Smoke Merc's Power Tune is also Superior to SeaFoam, CRC makes a couple of Good Combustion Chamber Cleaners too. Granted todays...

    Prop, or Engine Issue?

We had the 63 Johnson Electramatic, and it never gave any Electrical System Problems. Granted it didn't have any Electrical Circuit for the Choke. In 63 the Starter Solenoid and Charging Regulator for the Generator were in a Junction Box in the Bilge. By 68 I think all that stuff was under the...

    Throttle arm slop

Keep revving it like that with no Load and you won't have to worry about the Throttle Linkage. The 1972-1978 Control Box doesn't have linear Lever Motion to Throttle Cable Movement. Most of the Action happens after the Lever is Horizontal. That flat spot may very well be intention, to insure...

1969 85hp starflite, low power and cutting in and out

Far too many times we hear "I have worked on Auto Engines, or Aviation Engines". That kind of means Nothing when it comes Older Outboard Engines. An frequent Example, is how many "Experienced Mechanics" insist on trying to set Idle Timing... or adjusting Carb Linkages to adjust the Throttle...
