Water test on 115 HO etec

The Pitch Values are picked by that particular Manufacturer. Some Props are even offered in One Inch changes. Props can be Tweaked, but results will vary by what is Done, and also by how Competent the Tweaker is. Taking off with the Engine at higher Heights does offer a big chance of...

    1939 Evinrude fuel question

Have fun with that engine, just make sure to put enough Oil in the Gas. 16:1 or 12:1. Hopefully there is some indication on the Fuel Tank Johnson Service Manual doesn't show a 1.8hp in 1939. Actually it doesn't show a 1.8hp in any Year Do you have a Model #?

Water test on 115 HO etec

You need to have the Rpm #s that are attained running at WOT, in the Configuration it will be running. It makes no sense to prop it for say, 6000(or what ever the Number you need), with the Motor lowered fully, then go screaming down the Lake with the Engine Jacked up. It also goes the other...

1969 85hp starflite, low power and cutting in and out

This thread is already 50 posts long, so all you have to say to racer's request is that it was done, and the Results. He is one of the best on this Board when it comes to Motors of that Era.

    85hp charger speed/prop/rpm concerns

Unless you are exceeding 45 most of the Time, Normal Duty is probably the Best Choice for your Boat, but you might have to even put it a 1/2" below the Hull.

1969 85hp starflite, low power and cutting in and out

Well, as mentioned, Heat can reck Havok on Electronics, regardless of Vintage. It looks like it is mounted on a Heatsink... Is there supposed to be a Thermal Paste between the 2? If you have ruled out all the other Components as being the Problem, and all Connections are Electrically Secure...

Intermittent spark on 1976 35 HP Evinrude

Well it is 48 yrs old, maybe when Armature Plate is moving the Plug Wires are Flexing and the Internal Resistance rises, or the Insulation is weak, and the Spark doesn't make it to the Plug

    85hp charger speed/prop/rpm concerns

Being that the Props you are using appear to have little or no Cup, there a very good chance that having the Engine at that Height, is the reason you are experiencing the Prop losing its bite.

    85hp charger speed/prop/rpm concerns

Looking at the Pics, I see little, if any Cup, on those Blades. Cupping help the Prop's ability to keep a Grip on the Water if there the Water is not Solid, as in Undisturbed. Where is the Anti-Ventilation Plate, with regard to the Hull Bottom height wise, when it is Parallel to the Keel?

1969 85hp starflite, low power and cutting in and out

Okay you verified Spark on One Cylinder, there are 3 others, of which, some components are shared, and others are specific to each Cylinder. That Engine is far older than any of the Engineers ever planned/expected it to last. Heat can play Havoc with Electronics, especially 55 yr old...

Water test on 115 HO etec

It is Autumn, and if you prop it Now, or early Spring, you might discover it will lose some Power and Rpms come Summer. Something to keep in Mind.

Further away from the Water Line, maybe. The Hose connected to it would still have to arc up higher so as to reduce any Bow Splash getting into the Tank

Water test on 115 HO etec

The computer is not going to adjust things for a different Pitch. It is simply feeding Fuel and adjusting the Spark, based on a expected Rpm Range under Load. That Load is provided by choosing a Prop that allows the engine to run WOT within that expected Rpm Range
