    Gun ownership and permits.

Doctors, nurses, teachers, and even architects need to have continuing education to continue holding licenses to practice. My father was a NYS registered architect and had to accrue X hours of training per licensing period or his license would be revoked. So from that standpoint alone, I don't...

Does Anyone Know Any Halloween Songs?

Very few in modern age. "Thriller" by MJ probably best example. My Pandora Halloween station was grabbing stuff from the 50's & 60's mainly yesterday during Trick or Treat. It also pulled some modern songs that made me go....Huh, that's Halloween??

    Metal floors

I'd be curious what "problem" we're attempting to solve using metal floors? Increased cost and weight alone should be enough of a deterrent over tried & true plywood. Besides...if we're going in for the floor, what does the rest of the boat look like? Stringers? Transom??

    The End

Mine's at the marina now. They're using the weather to their advantage plowing through the boats winterizing them first. Will shrink wrap after that. IF I was just doing winterization, I'd have it back next week. With the added shrink wrap, I'm 1-2 weeks out on bringing it home for its winter...

    What's the round thingy,..??

They're used on our machine tools. DMG 160/210. Clears cutting fluid from the viewing windows.

    Gun ownership and permits.

I stand by my comments in post 2....It's reasonable in my opinion. Just as it would be reasonable to have drivers re-take their driver's exam as after yesterday's trip into work, a number of people could stand to be removed from the roads. Or to have boaters re-certify on their boater's...

    My Season By The Numbers

Whatever (1) tank full of REC 90 costs, $20 for the trailer reg, and whatever the marina charges for winterization/shrink wrap. That's my cost for the season. Boys were busy weekends with baseball and scouts so not much time left to boat this year. Next year will be a different story.

    Gun ownership and permits.

Not a gun owner but I think that's a reasonable requirement. It's similar to our yearly safety inspections on vehicles here in NY. I've looked into a pistol permit once, direct result of an incident at the hospital that was 4 blocks from my house. Guy showed up with a rifle and home made bomb...

    Re-carpet Lowe FM160

I take it DIY isn't an option? I ask as my uncle, in his 70's, ripped out the carpetting in his Sylvan and installed new over a weekend or two. Hatches would be simple too...just some ACX or BCX plywood sealed would get the job done.

I just bought a 2025 Bayliner VR5 with the 200hp 4.5L Mercruiser, BARELY pulls me up slalom

You're missing a couple key points here... 1. My boat from the get go is 700lbs lighter. That makes a world of difference. 2. Your boat is darn heavy. To the point where it rivals the FourWinns in my signature. That boat had a V8 MPI 270HP and could do 50-55 on the water regardless of load -...

    2024 NFL/CFB News and Nonsense

Nope. Gotta be both feet. Not one foot 2x.

    1981 Springbok 18' Restoration/Renovation

I'm gonna have to remember that as I've been looking for...umm...economical boats for my sons to use and some are closed bow Starcrafts which are just begging to be opened up. I was curious about how to finish off the cut edge and that just answered the question for me.

    Nobody fishing?

PT and meds. ACL reconstruction here and mom had her knee replaced. Made a rod holder to keep the poles organized over the winter. Need to do a quick sand then paint to seal the wood. Will grab a pic when its done. All it cost me was the 9 pole holder off ebay $24 + tax as all the wood was...

Have enough HP for hole-shot ?

You can always feather the throttle when out on the water, however you cannot add HP/torque. I would always opt for the largest engine possible for the given hull. There are obvious exceptions...such as HP limited lakes.

    The End

Called the marina and will be dropping it off Halloween morning as they're taking all comers. At least it gets out of my yard for the kids to trick or treat. Admiral and I already agreed we'd use the boat more next season - won't say we used a whopping tank of gas this year. In all my years of...

I just bought a 2025 Bayliner VR5 with the 200hp 4.5L Mercruiser, BARELY pulls me up slalom

That's a fairly heavy boat for only 200HP. Published specs were ~3300lbs dry and with that load, you may be at the very end of what that boat as configured can do. The extra 50 ponies might have been worth the upcharge in this instance. I mention that as my current boat has only 180HP and with...

BRP Selling many of its marine assets

From what I've read, BRP killed off Evinrude, no longer exists. Only thing that they make beyond the boats is the wonderful "underboard" Stealth engine with its highly complex bailing system and poor performance. In a nutshell, this is all self-inflicted. What exactly they're selling remains...

    The End

Emptied contents of mine yesterday. Opened the single point drain on the block as its supposed to get near freezing at the end of the week. Gotta get ahold of the marina to get into the queue. Also need to get some vermin repellent as storage location has had a mouse problem...

    Rain needed

I'd say we're down about a foot from normal...maybe two. Hard to tell for sure but I can tell where normal water level is vs where we are right now. I'm going off what I see in parts of the Erie Canal and local streams/rivers nearby.

    winter cover

They can put a door into the shrink wrap for winter access. Seen it several times here in WNY on larger boats such as yours. Mine...I pay for shrink wrap as covers/supports/tarps won't make it through a wet snow storm.
