    What would be a good size prop to start with. the one on it now ihas about a 10 inch diameter. know idea on the pitch. I just want the boat to be able to plane out with the family on board. Don’t need to set a water speed record.

    Put on a bimini top today

    I put on an empire covers bimini top today. Looks pretty good to me. Hope to take it out tomorrow. This old holiday is coming around.

    Holiday 160 transom

    What can I do to protect the transom? It has 2 soft spots one on the right side and one on the left side. Otherwise it seems solid. It doesn't look like the motor flexes when on throttle. Or is it best just to put in a new one. Would hope to wait until winter if possible.

    The coast guard plate says 80hp max for boat. I bought it from the original owners son. So it came with the 40hp mercury. Well I guess I should look for even bigger than the 50 I picked up yesterday

    Yeah I get that. Looking for a bigger motor. Picked 2 50hp mercurys yesterday. One with power tilt and controls. Hoping that will work better.

    Output voltage

    Put new battery in it and turns out the starter is not engaging. Took the starter out and cleaned it up works better but I'm going to order a new one. And replace the cables while I'm at it.

    Some more pics. I did see on the coast guard plate it had the model number. What should I do to the inside of the transom. Paint it or what is the best way to seal it.

    Yes I measured the input in ac. I will test farther tomorrow when I have time. Good to know it won't charge at low rpm. This is my first boat and first outboard I'm working on.

    I just picked up this boat today not sure what model it is. Any help would be great. not to bad of a boat. Needs seats and some stuff on the inside. Had it on the water for a bit and did ok. Has a 82 mercury 40hp that runs pretty good. Will be a good project for my son and I to work on.
