Retractable Transom Tie Down Strap size

Now if the working load was #2,500 each you'd be in business. Over the gunwale works for me. The transom tie downs just barely cleared the trim tab planers. What little the boat shifted while towing put a lot of pressure on one Tiedown or the other. Tried moving the tie downs on the trailer...

Retractable Transom Tie Down Strap size

What do you consider sufficient? Keep in mind that transom straps are rated for static loads, not shock. I broken a #3,200 rated strap just clipping a curve coming out of a parking lot. Made a heck of a noise. Just lucky it didn't hit a car as it flew across the busy intersection Now using a...

    Transducer on aluminum v-hull

May have gotten away with this years back with a fixed, single frequency unit, albeit with reduced sensitivity, but it’s not going to fly with a system (CHIRP) using long duration, multi-frequency (slurred) transmissions. Problem being, the “ringing” of the aluminum (think of a bell). Not only...

    2003 Mercury 90HP 4 Stroke Grounds

Ground is ground unless the connections are compromised in some way. Only in systems giving specific ground resistance specification do you worry about it. As a test, put your volt meter on ohms. Check the resistance between the old connection point and the new connection point.

1996 Evinrude Vindicator 200hp--engine keeps quitting on start-up

Only use QL77JC4 spark plugs. You can not flood the motor using the primer bulb if your float valves are functioning properly. Primer bulb simply gets hard and stops pumping. If the bulb doesn’t get hard, you have an issue Would highly suggest you rebuild the carbs if the black gaskets are...

My 3-year electrical headache was solved today, and it was a simple fix! Wondering if this is common.

Post a picture of your connections I have never seen a dual use battery where the marine terminal (threaded connection) is not cast into a common (lead) battery tap. That being the case, current is transferred thru direct contact between the lug and the lead tap. The threaded connection does...

1996 Evinrude Vindicator 200hp--engine keeps quitting on start-up

No…..you have to turn the ignition on/run (self test sequence) before you can push the key in to activate the solenoid. If the motor will not start/stay running using the primer manually, a bad solenoid isn’t the problem. The other thing to check is the filter screen inside to solenoid. Remove...

My bad… it by-passes the fuel manifold, not the fuel pump

    New Fuel Line Size

I did a little research.......found they employee three (3) people working in a small industrial warehouse complex in Popano Beach (google maps). The on-line business fuelconnectionstore.com operated out of the same address from 2010 to 2022 Found them as importer/consignee of multiple...

1996 Evinrude Vindicator 200hp--engine keeps quitting on start-up

The valve by-passes the fuel pump and carbs dumping fuel directly into the manifold. Normal operation, you push the key in to activate the solenoid while cranking the engine. In theory, the only time you would need to use the lever is when your solenoid dies. I have to fully investigate...

    1994 Mercury 60hp Poppit Spring

The strength of the spring would determine the pressure which the by-pass would open. Guessing…. the lower unit for a pontoon is typically geared lower for added thrust. The lower shaft speed would produce less flow and pressure to the cooling system, requiring more or less spring pressure to...

    Boat Tarp Material?

You in or around trees? If so, porous material like Sunbrella become a mold breeding ground in short order. Dry rot isn't far behind. Switched over to a black/Silver, 1200 Denier, 14 x 14 weave poly trap. Going on year 5 with the current tarp

    New Fuel Line Size

My current primer setup is almost 10 years old. Still works as advertised. Stored out of the sun under the back hatch which surely helps with longivity Not a fan of prefabbed fuel line assemblies. They typically use inexpensive, unrated fuel hose. I make my own up using OEM (BRP) bulb and 8...
