    Mercury only makes one style alpha cable these days, threads into the bell housing from the aft side. A few options as far as kits go from just the cable assembly to a full kit including bellows, clamps, gaskets, orings, etc. FYI the threaded portion of the bell housing that accepts the cable...

    Perfect seal/gasket sealer on the flange mating surfaces/o ring and sealer on bolt threads when assembling Y pipe and gimbal housing are both cast aluminum. Bolts are stainless hence the sealer

    The lower shift cable comes through the gimbal housing and routes between the flywheel cover and the exhaust y pipe Then routes up and between the exhaust elbow/riser gap next to the remote shift cable and attaches to the plate
