Servo motors are cheap. I may buy another one that includes a positioner that allows you to tap the pedal and it moves the needle up out of the way or all the way down instead of having to use the handwheel.
Also look at Juki 1541 (with or without the S) or the Seiko STH-8BLD3
This is the machine I have and this is actually near me. Bet you can get it way less than $900...
Also, if you just doing upholstery and not boat covers, the larger bobbin of the 206RB isn't as big an issue although I do use a 226 with it's smaller bobbin on my 226, I just prefill a lot of bobbins before I start my project.
I am sure glad I NEVER have to do something like this! My boat now sits in a heated garage.
My pontoon boat cover I just made last year. Sunbrella. Previous one lasted around 8 years. It sits in a brutal environment otherwise they normally last longer.
