Seller tried to pull a fast one.
Engine had trouble starting.
Wouldn't idle.
Started overheating in bucket.

I couldn't run away fast enough.
1. Turn off your phone
2. Stick it in a sock
3. Put the end of a sock over a hair dryer
4. Seal with a rubber band or tape it
5. Turn it on low (no heat) for 12 to 24 to 48 hrs ( times will vary )
You're done.
So it looks like the old carb is a direct fit . The only issue is the modern choke lever. To make it fit, take it apart, grind it for clearance, drill a hole and install a pin . The rest is plug and play.
I can afford a fancy expensive 4 stroke, but will choose a 2 stroke any day.
If you get a late model (2000's) 2 stroke, they're pretty damn smooth and quiet, and much more powerful.
As battery technology advances, and prices continue to drop I'm looking forward to running electric . But for now, gasoline is top dog ... king as far as energy density is concerned. Batteries aren't that expensive anymore. They're just heavy.
If water was gushing in my boat, I'll pull it out of the water immediately.
You could always intentionally flood it on land with a garden hose.
Where the water comes out , is where it comes in.
