    I recently rebuilt the exact same motor a 2 weeks ago. https://streamable.com/q2u0p5 Try gently seating the low idle needle, then backing out 1.5 turns. I removed the top half of the air intake to access it. I hope you used an OEM kit to rebuild the carb, and replaced almost everything.

    I don't know. They changed something after 96. I know that's not a very technical answer . Just something I've experienced. Been through about two dozen motors this season and always have problems with those models, and rarely ever have problems with those made pre 96 .

    Personally prefer the 93 to 96's . The later models are just not as robust. If it's bogging clean the carb , or rebuild it (better) Use an OEM kit don't cheap out

    Replace with new hose. If not cut a piece of the end off ( so there's no longer a tear ) . Re-install it. And secure it with a zip tie.

    Free 1976 Johnson 15HP

    A trusted friend recently helped me when no one else would. So to return the favor, I gave him one of my outboards .... for free.     1970 Johnson 9.5 Gas Efficiency

    My old turtle used too much gas for it's size too. They're low compression motors that aren't exactly the most efficient. But you can't beat the size, the way it folds up, and the weight as racerone mentioned. A lot of pilots love this motor because its so light, and takes up almost no room.
