    Outboard upgrade.

The two stroke is lighter in weight and will move you faster speedwise. The four stroke will use less fuel. Two stroke much easier to service and repairs are fairly cheap. Four stroke will be quieter....so ...which benefits are most important ?

    Older Boats

Nothing more beautiful than a quality built wood boat ! Owned a few Layman's back in the 60-70's, can't beat that mahogany look. They take constant watching to stay ahead of problems, but often have a better ride. Would much rather maintain a wood boat than rebuild a fiberglass boat !

    leaking riveted starcraft ('82 MR180)

I would use SS.....brass is ok as long as all the strands are removed....brass and aluminum are born enemies.

    First boat! 1989 Quantum 1800xb Force 125

What you just explained is why folks buy aluminum boats....no rotten stringers to replace. Aluminium boats over 50 yrs old are not uncommon and they hold far better value. Your money, time and effort, just curious why you are hell bent on spending big bucks on a boat that will be worthless...

    First boat! 1989 Quantum 1800xb Force 125

That msrp was back in the eighties when brand new, after you get it done, you would be lucky to get 1K....think about this...." Fiberglass boats are few and far between"......perhaps now you know why..... Your money, time and effort, and you won't be the first to regret a complete rebuild on a...

If silicone was used previously, nothing may stick to that surface....one of the downsides of using silicone besides the fact it doesn't last.

    First boat! 1989 Quantum 1800xb Force 125

Far better off by taking the loss and starting over with something else. As a first boat owner, I would consider an aluminum boat as there is very little wood to rot and easier to repair by a long shot ! No one wants an old fiberglass boat, not even the dump, so be prepared when you try to...

    Docking Aid

Nope, we don't use docking aids or other devices, we use and hone our skills and if we use the same dock all the time, we make that dock user friendly. Like loading a boat on a trailer....if the trailer is set up properly, loading is easy, if not setup properly then it isn't....

    Prop help-1993 Mariner 30ELO on a 16' toon

No one can say what prop you will need ! You can guess and experiment all you want, without accurate numbers for RPM and current prop specs, it is nothing but a guess ! Guess wrong and you will be replacing your motor !

    LifePo4 batteries recomendations

My current deep cycle batteries for my 12v trolling motor have given up. Not complaining they are from 2019. Want to replace with the newer LifePo4 battery and looking for recommendations from folks that have actually had a year or more experience with these. What type ( brand), where did...

    Trim motor kills the radio

Shouldn't have your radio wired to the engine battery. Most use a house battery for everything not engine related. Start battery is for engine related power.
