    What do I do??

I bought a short driveshaft & shifter rod for $50. The copper pipe simply cut. Incredibly simple conversion from long shaft to short shaft. You can also find a complete parts motor for less than the cost of individual parts if all you need is the tiller assembly.

    Evinrude 9.9 Overheating

#41 looks missing. Double check the OEM impeller, and make sure it's submerged. If necessary increase the idle rpm via the adjustment screw.

    Evinrude 9.9 Overheating

This can be fixed easily. You didn't use an OEM impeller. Just because it pees does not mean its pumping enough water. Steam is always bad. Your thermostat reassembly has issues. You didn't replace the vermitherm or are missing parts. The entire assembly is creates necessary restriction in...

    Replace Zodiac Floor

Dealers charge per square inch, not by the meter . You can find official dealers through their website depending on your country. There are dozens. If it's too expensive you can try Aliexpress for cheaper material but generally speaking when buying anything boating related , especially with...

    Leak, can't find

Do what Airshot mentioned and make the soap mix more concentrated. What I do is use an empty bathroom foamer bottle, make a strong mix, and it will literally shoot froth . Coat the entire boat in foam until it's all white, then use your hand to move it around until you see new bubbles forming.

Evinrude 9.5 vs 8hp speed test

Agreed. The old 9.5 felt like a 5. The next gen 9,9 felt like a 10. The last gen 9.9 feels like a 15.

    My first inflatable

My saturn delaminated at the seams, so I can't recommend them based on personal experience. Also based on weight, unless you have a trailer , I would caution against lifting such a large boat (175 lbs) in and out of your trunk . A current 15 Honda 4 stroke is another 105 lbs . You can try to...

Evinrude 9.5 vs 8hp speed test

They're called turtles for a reason. They're low compression and crank rated. Mine felt more like a 5 lol. But it's light, compact and folds right up to fit in small spaces ( like float planes where space and weight matter most ) . Your 8 has higher compression & rpm as mentioned. It's newer...

Oil change interval, synthetic or no, curious what we all do

Takes 15 mins to do a drain and fill in my driveway. Mobil 1 Synthetic . I aim for 7-8k , but have stretched it past 10k. OEM filters are cheaper at my dealership vs aftermarket. I have the re-assurance knowing that it's done properly , using quality oil, at the right levels . And that no...

How do you test a lower unit for leaks.

Thanks for the idea Chris. Don't have one yet (only a compression tester) , but will start looking. I was thinking of using the air compressor in my trunk (for tires) and just spray down the lower unit with soapy water to watch for bubbles.
