    yes thats cable steering. liquid or thick residue is usually oil or grease used in the cable to keep it lubricated....and working as it should. if it was hydraulic you would have a helm that had 2 barbs on the back of it being hydraulic pump. and 2 hoses running to back of stern to the engine...

    those look like the start to seat boxes for the bow cabin. if you look close you will see the said bushings on mine. they belong there. as for rivets on all sides , im 100 percent sure those that you have are for the seating / storage

    this is where your hose will go from bilge pump by the looks of it your also gonna need a new cable for steering. or just buy new helm and cable both. less then 200 ....

    the front vents belong here in the pics and the others are gas fill. the very forward is the water fill. as thats inside the cabin. the 2 back vents go on the piece that you have now . i have marked the front vents. they should be the same on both sides...

    that hole by your control, is for steering and wiring to come thru. and yes those are the vents for the gas lines. one of those holes is for a vent the other holes are probly gas fill, and water. the aluminum sheet goes right up against transom on top. so edge is against transom. . for the...

    2 face forward to bow ,2 face backward to stern. the bow ones only have dryer hoses to bring in air . the 2 facing stern has a Dryer hose attached to blower should be on both sides if im not mistaking. one side of hose in the bilge area below floor , to motor then up to the vent.

    steering cable?

    well i cut the hole. steering cable is a lil bit tight yet. getting a bit easier to steer but not by much. still sometimes have to use both hands to crank it , sometimes one hand, i think its just gunked up. gonna buy a can of some kind of cleaner and spray it in the sheathing and work at it...
