Proper Nomenclature of Various Retaining Rings

I was surprised to see the E clip definetion....in my days they were referred to as " Jesus Christ" clips, because when removing or installing them they flew off into areas unkown....and the typical " Jesus Christ where did that clip go !

    1995 Spartan Supreme roller trailer

Are the rear most rollers right at the back of the boat ? Support in this area is critical, make sure roller is right under transom edge. Bow eye should be under bow stop, adjust rollers or winch stand to get the position correct. Be sure you have a safety chain the hold the bow eye down in...

    The End

This old diegard is not giving up yet ! Long range forecast still has some nice days for perch fishing and the freezer still has some room for more fillets. Having an outboard and a barn for storage makes it much easier, but when I had my I/O, I added two light bulbs into the engine doghouse...

    towing - engine in neutral?

Takes to long, others use electric winches and I am loaded and out while they are still winching. Power loading does not mean full power to get up on your trailer, just enough to let the boat slide on close enough to clip the winch strap. Not much prop wash at all, especially when tilted...

    Mariner 40 hp.

You need a 500 rpm drop, so add 2" of pitch to your prop to get you into that 5600 rpm range. If your testing the boat in its lightest weight setup you can exceed max rpm slightly......then you will be good when some weight is added. When running wot under a light load, watch your teach ! I...

Seasonally changing Mercury 110 spark plugs

In my many years of boating, I have had better success with NGK or Quicksilver plugs in Mercury motors and better success with Champion plugs in OMC motors. However if motor runs and idles good and plugs are clean, why change them ? Whether it pees well or not, no way to know if that impeller...

Hopefully you are right, but can't say I have heard that...I buy premium fuel hose and put my own quality fittings on to be safe and secure.

Cant get new boat to plan out

Your dealer should have explained and demonstrated all this to you as part of buying a new boat....sorry, but your dealer is an idiot....

    towing - engine in neutral?

Thais is why I have always said, you should need a license and pass a test to operate a boat !

    towing - engine in neutral?

Due to torn rotator cuffs and very shallow ramps power loading is necessary for some of us. However I know how to do it properly and do not damage the ramp. If I had to winch my boat on the trailer it would take me 20-30 minutes to get loaded up as it does most folks that winch their boats on...

1998 Mercury 75 HP 2-Stroke RPM Issue - Possible Stator Problem?

OEM parts are usually more expensive because they work better than the Chineseium counter parts. When it comes to boat motors, I never use aftermarket !!!

Cant get new boat to plan out

You need to make your dealer set it up correctly. You will probably need to wait until break in is complete. I would not recommend that dealer to anyone !

    96 Evinrude 50 Cutting Out

If your new fuel hose is made of the gray vinyl hose material that could be an issue. They are junk and only last a year, the inside comes apart and slows/ stops the fuel flow. Just food for thought .....

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Life changes in a flash, live life to the fullest as long as you can afford it ! When we retired, we bought a used motor home to try it out....was great for the first two years, started looking at newer units and downsizing our home. Within a few months my wife had two hip replacements then...
