salt water cooled merc 454. replacing risers and mine come with a different kind of gasket, two of the holes are very small on the new one. Is this ok, should i try and find a couple like the old ones with the bigger holes? also if this is normal what is the reason for making the holes smaller?

i've got a MCM 4.3L 262 CID 6cyl. 2004 engine. My temp gauge has marks of 170 then the next one is 220. The temperature goes between the two and closer to the 220 side. should i be worried, for all i know it reading 190 or 210. Also the risers don't get too hot where as the manifolds get hot.

i have a ford 5.0 1995 V8. i am putting the head back on and am wondering about the valve adjustment. do these only get torqued and not adjusted and if so what is the torque on these things.

two of the bolts can't torque down because the threads in the block are stripped. They were rotted away because they go right into a water passage (salt water engine). Tried to tap to the next size larger thread but the bolt wouldn't get near the correct torque.
