    Weak spark

I think that wire set would be good. The distributor is made for solid copper core wires. The application to the distributor would not work with composite/grafit wires.

85 HP force motor. 2 questions!

Check the remote control cables for right adjustment. If you could open up the throttles more by hand the remote control need adjustment. Clean spark plug.... check head gasket, exhaust cover gaskets (be careful if you suppose to remove the screws holding the cover). Check the reed valves, later...

    Weak spark

If the condenser is for regular auto style ignition coils I think it is okey. Yes your high tension (HT) wires are composite/grafit wires. How do you connect these to the distributor cap? OEM wires (solid copper core) are split up (mushroomed) in the dist. cap to get good connection to the...

Need help pulling gear carrier on Force 125 hp

The clutch dog and the gear should have straight edges and perpendicular surfaces. No rounded edges.

    Weak spark

What capacitor (condenser) do you use? The capacitor should fit the coil spec. Think a 0,20-0,25 mikro Farad would be fine. Have you set the points to 0,014 in (0,35 mm)? Do you have solid copper core HT wires? BR7HS-10 has a built in radio suppression resistor and the electrode gap is 0,040 in...

    Weak spark

Which kind of plugs do you use? Converting from Magna Power system to regular auto style you have to change from surface gap style plugs to plugs with a bent electrode. Is the timing right? 28-30 dgr BTDC at WOT is the setting.

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

From the model number of your engine you should be able to identify if it is a 3,312 in or 3,375 in.

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

I use three brusher flex honing tool, have always worked out well. From your measurement it indicates you can go with standard piston and rings in my opinion.

    Water in lower unit oil?

Hard to see in the pic if there is water in it. With water in the oil it would look like chocolate milk or the water will enter out first then the oil when draining. Some LU oil will mix with the water (chocolate milky) other not, water separated to the oil.

    40hp shearing flywheel keys?

Franz Marine will have the flywheel key, Crowley Marine too. Partnumber 91800 I think.

    40hp shearing flywheel keys?

First you have to check that the flywheel key you use is the right one that fits perfectly. If it is too big the flywheel will ride on the key and the taper do not do it´s purpose. The key is only for right location of the flywheel and the taper is for holding the flywheel in place with the nut...

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

You need a 12 point 1/4 socket with thin walls. I recommend you to buy a quality socket from Facom, Snap on, Bacho or other brands that they use at workshops. When reassemble it you have to torque the connecting bolts to spec value and that will require quality tools.

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

I agree with racerone, maintenance is prio 1. Good two stroke oil, change LU oil every season, run the carbs out of fuel in the autumn and run it in fresh water. Remember that these old engines are ........yes old. Do not run the hell out of it and they will last for a very long time. #ErSa...

    (Chrysler 25 HP 1975) Outboard Motor 257HA

Prime side of all ignition coils would read about 0,5-3 Ohm. Secondary side is more different. Coils for CDI ignition would read about 200-800 Ohm depending on brand and system, magneto coils would read about 5-8KOhm and battery ignition 9-15KOhm.

    (Chrysler 25 HP 1975) Outboard Motor 257HA

I am not sure about built in resistors as they I have worked with has the resistor outside. Do not use coils with resistors, it is for cold start a car. OB do not need this. If the coils is for 12V... fine, you can use it. If there is a crack in the coil, well try to insulate it with some kind...

1972 Chrysler 85, Tolletson carburetor tuning

Sounds really odd it would not start and idle timed at 30 dgr BTDC! Have you done the timing at top cylinder and at WOT? Check that the distributor is adjusted right to the flywheel. Set the throttle at idle (lowest setting) and pull off the throttle rod from the throttle cam. Check with a screw...

    (Chrysler 25 HP 1975) Outboard Motor 257HA

ErSa has one solution, coils from motorbikes. It has to be 12V coils for battery ignition systems. Another solution is to use regular auto style coils but not with ballast resistor. Auto style coils can be a bit tricky to assemble cause they are larger then the OEM and coils for bikes...

    ‘76 90hp Head cover sealing…

Damage to the power head is due to pre ignition or carb feeding that cylinder is clogged. I think it is pre ignition. Clean all carbs and check the timing.

1972 Chrysler 85, Tolletson carburetor tuning

These engines are really easy to time. As it has battery feed ignition system with points (Magna Power CD system or regular auto style ignition with condenser and points). To find 28 and 30 dgr BTDC you can count how many tooth you have on the flywheel. Divide it with 360 and multiply with 28...

1994 Force 120 Low compression on top cylinder

Maybe you are right in your calculation but that is for a whole rebuild of the engine. If only one cylinder is bad just rebuild that one with rebore, new piston with rings and with new gaskets that you can not reuse. Cleaning the carbs and new gaskets for the them. You do not need to put in new...
