Bow Damage - How to fix?

Just grind down and feather out from the repair area, then take a couple of pieces of scrap wood, contoured to the shape of the hull lip, wrap it in plastic wrap and clamp it on. Get some resin and cloth (maybe chopped strand or woven roven), and build up the area, cupped by the clamped wood...

Open Bow to Center Console resto-mod…

Heres a short thread of a tri hull cc, what one might look like. https://www.boatdesign.net/threads/1973-tri-hull-center-console-rebuild.18246/ The stringers, transom and deck repair would be similar to most runabout rebuilds. The problems you may run into is when you remove the drivers...

    88 Capri Restoration (Splashed 08/2022)

Its not so much the wood core construction thats the problem, its how it was built. Some of the most expensive and sought after recreational boats are cold molded, and can cost many millions, but they are hand crafted with care as opposed to sloppy, inadequate laminates. This is a Paul Mann...

Coating galvanized metal with paint is always iffy. I would etch it with white vinegar and apply cheap rusto cold galvanized in a rattle can. It will lok clean and newer at least, and not flake as bad as paint...

    Brightside polyurethane painting

Usually the tech sheet for the paint will have a recoat window in it. Following that and no sanding is needed between color coats if u stay within that window.. Seems Brightside doesnt give a window and recommends sanding between. Kinda odd, but maybe it needs to be leveled when brushing...

    Bedding the stringers

You want to apply the epoxy tabbing over fully cured poly PB, no wet on wet. You dont have to sand for adhesion, because of epoxys glue properties, but it helps the mechanical bond. You would want to at least sand off any ridges or nibs so u dont get too many air pockets under the cloth.

    Bedding the stringers

Yes its fine to tab with epoxy over poly bedding, in fact, every time you put epoxy on a hull, you are covering poly with epoxy by default. ;)

Rehab SportCraft 222 1983 deep V hull cuddy walkaround

Alot of what safety equipment you need depends on how far offshore you intend to go. With your single older 2 stroke, and limited fuel, you will most likely be inside 20 fathoms or so, with that you will most likely be in vhf range of shoreline coastguard. You will most likely be within range of...

That Cobra seems ok because it has built in GPS and DSC capable. Personally, Im a fan of Icom, the Icom M330g can be had for a similar price. DSC is cool because when an MMSI number is programmed, anyone can just press the red button in an emergency. None of that matters if out of vhf range...

1996 Century Boats 1800 Center Console Refit and Modernization

So after a bit of back and forth, I finally have both wrenches, the seal kit and fluid for the trim rebuild. I also have the battery management kit. When I received the package from marine tech, there was only one wrench in the fed ex envelope. I contacted marine tech and they said they sent...

Swim platform refinishing and anti-slip / skid

The reason you would use a cleaner/brightener or oxalic is that will get you to a uniform substrate. For color you can use a stain, leave as is and clear, or use a tinted clear in teak tone. I would avoid epoxy due to its limited UV protection. A spar varnish is typical to use over teak, or a...

Swim platform refinishing and anti-slip / skid

You should not oil the deck before coating it, sand it clean, oil it or coat it with a clear. An oil coating will inhibit the clear from bonding. If u decide to sand it down and oil it, you can brighten and destain the wood with oxalic acid or a teak cleaner/brightener product before oil. No...

    Luhrs 35 tournament wall removal

Those DD 8.2 N or T are 32" wide, the Cat 6cyl is less wide. You probably need to measure the door opening, I would explore tearing down some of the detroits for removal if the doorway is less than 32", which I doubt it is. The Cats will fit in without a doubt at 26-31"

I ordered the rebuild kit, just one of the many online all around the same prices, give or take. Still waiting on that and the tools. While I have it on the shop, I figure ill tackle the battery management and lack of 120v dock charging. I ordered a Blue Seas add a battery kit, which comes...
