What happened to the list for Invader?

    Who's got the cheapest boat?

Ok, so we all know that a fella could go bankrupt purchasing/owning/restoring a boat. What I'm curious to know is how cheap that same fella could get, given the right circumstances. I'm not talking about a friend or relative GIVING you a boat, but honest-to-goodness purchases, trades, or...

    OMC 3.0L hard re-startf

I'm troubleshooting a hot re-start issue with my 1984 Invader 181BR. It has the 140hp 3.0L and the model 400 sterndrive. I've only had the boat in the water twice, so bear with me as I learn this I/O thing. Been an OB guy on my last 2 boats. When cold, the engine starts relatively easily...

What are these black plastic clips for?

I've got a set on each side of the boat, in the passenger seating area. Can't figure out what they are for, but I'm suspecting perhaps a fish gutting/cleaning tray could fit into the grooves? The clips that are positioned more amidships are not as wide. Your thoughts?

    Hyperlite Byerly 137

Been out of the wakeboard scene since 1995 when I used to work for K2. They would give employees skis, snowboards, and wakeboards to promote their products. Anyhoo.......found a 137 w/bindings at a garage sale this weekend for $50. Board was in great shape with no nicks or scratches to be...

    Hard Starting (cold)

New to I/Os......please forgive the ignorance! I picked up an older Invader with the OMC 3.0L at the end of last summer. Had a booger of a time starting it when cold, would just crank and crank. Once started and warmed, restarts were not an issue. PO stated that he thought the fuel was not...

    Would you buy it?

Looking at picking up a 1983 Invader 17.5 with the OMC 3.0 inboard. Boat is in pretty good shape internally and externally and has the usual wear and tear, but here's my dilemma: it slid off the trailer when unloading and the outdrive hit the cement launch pad pretty hard. There is a small...

    15ft Capri Tri-hull

Been looking at boats lately, but can't afford the ones I want. My brother is offering me the old family boat (was my mom's) for free since his kids aren't interested anymore. Last time I was out on that boat was over 15yrs ago, so my memory is real fuzzy. Any idea what performance would be...

    Think I found something.......

Since our previous boat was lost to a roll-over accident and fire last summer on our big family vacation, we're in the market for another affordable family boat. I found a 1990 Blue Water Blazer (16ft BR) in great visual condition for $3900 out the door. It has less than 400hrs, but I'm not...

How NOT to have a good vacation......

As a reference for others to learn from, I am posting my instructions to completely avoid having a good time while on vacation. You can make this mandatory reading for friends and family, or merely criticize me and tell me how I am a failure and everything is my fault (just like my wife does)...

    Re-power or leave it alone?

Currently have a 1986 Merc 90 on my 16ft Larson All-American. It runs fine and pulls the family around the lake on skis, tubes, and boards without any problems. The boat is rated up to 120hp, and I'm thinking that I'd like to possibly do this next spring. Since my current setup is functioning...

    ....Knee Surgery and riding

Don't know if this is the right place to discuss the issue or not, but I'm wondering how many of you boarders have had knee surgery and what amount of time you took off from being in the water? I just had surgery about 3 weeks ago for a large miniscus tear and hardening of the soft tissues. My...

    Its about time!!!

Just wanted to shout to anyone listening that I'm finally finished with my Masters! I just completed my last paper today and submitted for approval, so thankfully, I hope I never have to write another one of those! Now, if I could only land that dream job that pays 6 figures......

    90hp Merc prop upgrade

Picked up a 1983 16ft Larson All-American with a 1986 Merc 90 in early April. I've only had it out a few times, but speed seems a little slower than I would have thought for this size of boat. I've gone through the OB and its in solid shape with a good tune (120psi x 6) and recent L&S. The...

    Over-charging

I've read a few posts reguarding my issue and will follow the advice given: battery condition, connections, wiring, etc. Since my outboard (1985 I6, 90hp) doesn't have a regulator built into the design, I'm wondering if I could add a universal 12v regulator? I've done this in the past when...

    Looking for ideas......

Not wanting to spend a fortune on a wakeboard tower, but I am wanting to have additional storage for our water toys when out playing. I'm thinking of building a small storage tower above the outboard of my new-to-me Larson. The area that I'm considering looks very similar to this: I'm...

    Tower vs Pylon, small boat

I'm about to acquire a 16ft bowrider with an outboard. Would like to get the rope out of the water and I'm considering the options. Kids are learning to knee/wakeboard, so I'm wondering what your thoughts are. Cost and installation are always a factor, but I'm getting a great deal on the...

    Almost a new owner....

I'm driving a little over 300mi this week to look at a 1986 Larson (16 or 17ft, not sure) with the original Merc 90 O/B. According to the owner, the boat has had extensive maintenance and is kept inside and covered when not in use. He states that it has a new impeller and gear oil, new floor...

    Force or Merc?

Assuming that both check out mechanically and have good compression, what is your opinion on powering a 17ft BR deep-V: 1992 Force 90hp or 1986 Merc 90hp? I'm looking at two very similar boats and these are the outboards attached to each. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

    Deckboat?

Sold our 1966 Starcraft Holiday just before Christmas because it wasn't big enough for our family. We want a boat that we can comfortably hold all 5 of us (plus a dog or two), and be able to use it for skiing or fishing. I found something that I'm interested in locally from Craigslist, but I...
