Omc throttle control

My father just recently completely redid our old pontoon boat and now it won’t stay running. He never disconnected the wires for the throttle control on either end. Now it will not start or stay running unless the side button on the throttle control. Any ideas of what is going on or what that button does would be extremely helpful.

That is the Man Overboard Switch, there is a fitting/clip with a Lanyard, that goes there. The other end of the Lanyard, is supposed to be attached to the Driver, if he leaves the Helm, the engine shuts off

Agreed.----You need the correct lanyard clip for that kill switch.-----If you push that wee button in it might start.
