Replacing Self Bailer Diaphragms Zodiac

I bought two new diaphragms for my MK II C. One had fallen out and the other was splitting. The new diaphragms have insert pegs (not sure what the center piece is called) slightly larger than the one I removed.

I can't seem to get it started into the hole.

Do I need to remove part of the floor and pull these into place or is there a way I can push them hard enough to snap them in? I've never had the floor out and will probably have to take it to a dealer if this is the case.

Hello
Did you ever solved the problem stated in this thread??.. I have that exact problem and need to find out if I need to replace the complete self bailer base.
