Greetings all,
This is a general upgrade/notification thread regarding my new to me Coastal 250. I plan on adding alot of features and looking for feedback from people who own Coastals and Sportsmans.
The engines are 1988 Johnson 140 V4s. They only have 600 hours and run excellent. This week I'm going to be rebuilding all carbs, replacing the stbd vro pump upgrading to the newer OMS oil injection pump, and replacing both water pumps.
For the boat, I've purchased a Garmin 740S chartplotter along with NMEA network kit. I have two Garmin GFS10 fuel sensors to keep track of fuel burn, MPG (probably pretty scary!) and estimated miles remaining. Being able to see fuel flow for me is a huge peace of mind and allows me to keep track of not only how much fuel I've used, but compare fuel flow for both engines - compare with rpm can easily detect a clogged carb or fuel line before any damage is done.
I'm replacing all the gauges with Teleflex Arctic series.
The boat has no stereo (Gasp!) so I've purchased a head unit, amp, and speakers (box style). I'd like to see some pictures of anyone with these boats who has a stereo as I'm not decided on how to mount - I'm considering head unit in the cuddy, with the 3.5mm input and amp volume mounted on the dash. I plan on two box speakers under the gunwhales in the cockpit - and undecided on the forward two speakers. I cringe at the thought of cutting into the gelcoat hence the box speakers instead of typical round.

Anyway, I will be starting work this week and posting more pics! Looking for other Sportsmans or Coastals and feedback from other owners!

Love the look of the soft top
