Re: Pics of your classic Wellcraft

Hey guys, its been a while since I have logged in. I am picking up the boat in a few days and will upload some more images. Thanks for the compliments! On a side note, has anyone removed the outdrive lately? I was going to do some preventive maintenance and would like some guidance.... I will post some images soon! Happy Boating!

WOW! 86 that is an AWESOME boat! I would love to see more pics of your boat. Maybe some of the bow seats and a closer shot showing your swim platform. And Just for personal reference a shot of your trailer. As far as I know there is only myself and sunking22 on here with elites. Yours seems to be in amazing original condition! Great pics!

1988 Wellcraft classic 170.
Completely replaced the floor and stringers this spring.
Patched the water jacket with JB Weld back in 2009, still holding tight!

Nice looking boat. Just curious why you replaced the floor and stringers? Were they in pretty bad shape? Boat looks great!

Nice boat....I have an '88 210 Classic, very similar, and I love it. The lines of these boats take you back to the days of high performance on the water. Mines only the 5.7 260hp, but it runs well.

Thanks, took alot of work to get her to where she is now. It is a great boat, and would not trade it for anything. It may be a bit slower then the new boats but shes built like a tank, and the modern boats just don't hold up as well. It does what the family needs and I can still have a little fun when I push the sticks.

Here are some of my 1990 192 Sport (aka "Classic" in earlier years).
A rarer version with VP AQ171C and SP-A drive (I-4 DOHC engine).
Think most came with a Mercruiser.

Hey wellcraft19, nice boat, very similar to mine, almost same colors (see my pics in my album). I love mine. Discovered two small spots on the floor that are soft, but not gonna fool with it now. The previous owner didnt keep it covered, and now that I have fixed it up, it will be kept nice from now on....what prop are you running? Contact me in regards please.......

Re: Pics of your classic Wellcraft

Im not sure how these pics came out but here is a play by play of my restoration of my 1977 wellcraft suncruiser 29.5ft. I'm using fiberglass mesh stringers, so hopefully i will never have to replace them. Replacing the old 305 merc with a 350 chevy, everything new with marine parts!!!! Any comments or advice will be helpful.

Well, heres the first attempt at uploading pictures. If it works, your viewing a 1985 Wellcraft 24.8 Sportsman. She has twin 140 mercruiser I/O, carries 100 gallons of fuel. Trim tabs were added with full electronics. The deck is self bailing. Added also was a power anchor.
We added & replaced some graphics as the years had ruined the old ones. A new SDE outdrive was added last winter.
She cruises easy at 3000 rpm , pushing 25 mph on the gps. WOT runs up slightly over 4000. We run 13 3/4 X 21 props, both standard rotation for the fuel economy on long runs to the fishing spots.
Easy on the pocketbook, nice lines, and twin engine dependability. plus at only an 8 foot beam, its a trailer boat.
