I am interested to see if anyone has seen or heard of this model. It has kona emblems on the sides along with "viceroy" painted on the sides. Any ideas? I am thinking the "viceroy" is wrong. Here is a link to more pics.http://s217.photobucket.com/albums/cc176/crossent/VIP%20boat/

I think you have 1985 VIP Viceroy 1750 with a 4.3L (probably GM) engine and 4 BBL carb (either Holly or Rochester).

"Viceroy" on the side is pretty much the same type-face as the "Valiant" on my boat (http://www.rucker.ca/photos/vehicles/vipvaliantboat/100_1110.jpg), and its original.

Here's a link to some iBoats info, but I wouldn't pay it much mind. For one, it claims the boat is an outboard, which yours clearly isn't. Just use the link as evidence that the "Viceroy" model exists, and just dig out the serials from your engine compartment so that you can find all the info on your moving parts.

Also, that is low hours! Either the engine was rebuilt/replaced at some point, or you've got a real gem there.

Thanks for the info. It's a 4 cyl mercruiser and it is original hours. It hasn't been in the water in 3+ years so what should be done before heading out.

Re: First Boat/ What model is it?

I figured 4.3L because of the serial number. If it's a 4 cyl Merc it's probably 2.3 or 3.0?

Anyway, I'm not quite sure all the things you should check out before you head out - many suggest a tune up, ensure that there's no oil/water mixing anywhere (both engine and leg). Some people will take the out drive off as a matter of course and just replace all the seals, bellows, gimbal, impeller, etc, especially if its been sitting a few years. A marine mechanic can do all this, or you can do it yourself if you find the shop manual for your engine (some are available here, check the IO engine forums).

Nice looking viceroy I'm curious as to what size prop are you running and what's your top speed I've got a 23 pitch on my viceroy and topping out at 22 mph
