That sir, is the "Large Mouth Bass" of salt water: King Mackerel. Those things are superb fighters and an absolute blast to catch. (At least it looks like it from here).
Catching one that size is about like hooking an 8lb largemouth, btw. Lots of fun.
You never know what's going to come up out in the Gulf which, imho, is one of the most fun elements of fishing down here. Oh, don't get me wrong, you can obviously target specific species, but if you're fishing a near-shore wreck (8-12miles out), depending on the time of year, you could pull up almost anything, and most times you don't know until it breaks the water.
