I'm from Fl. and know of them, are the Stergons just game fish or are they table fare also? :redface:

They are excellent to eat. Similar to but better than halibut. We are only allowed to keep 3 per year via the tag system to help protect the fishery.
I fish mailnly catch and release for them but I will usually keep 1 per year.

They fight like a bull with plenty of pulling power and on occaision come completly out of the water straight up like a missile when fighting them.

Very cool ! 3 per yr, tag system!!! great Idea...that's what we need down here with our Jew fish, there taking over all our wreaks and eating everything, there no longer an endangered or even low numbered species. In some areas there worse than the sharks on the wreaks. Oh! excuse me, I mean...Goliath Grouper! Do you get to haarvest any females with roe?

cobia caught 35 miles south of pascagoula, ms. they are 23 and 43 lbs
they little guy is the one that caught the bigger fish, that was a lot of fun to watch
