Stingray 185 lx good for tow sports?

I want to buy a 2011 stingray 185 lx, and a friend of me told me that for tow sports it's not really accurate.

My other concern is I prefer a Volvo engine and on the stingray's website it s ont even an option

Finally, when it's the best time to buy it ( to have the best price possible)?

It will do fine for water sports with a lower pitch prop. You will loose top end speed, but you don't need that for water sports.

I think you would find, though, that the 195 with the v6 will do better for water sports. Again, with the right pitch prop. That is essentially my same boat and we do every kind of water sport besides wake surfing behind it.

Stingray went all volvo until last year. Most people think they went back to merc because the 3.0s the put in the 185s became only available from merc. You can still get a volvo in the 195.

See if you can fit a 195 into your budget, if not, there are used 185s/180s with volvos out there.
