Stingray 190FX water problem

I am considering buying a 2000 Stingray 190FX runabout. During an in-water test water entered the engine compartment through the compartment's exhaust vents when the boat was slowed down and the back wave crashed over the stern. It then flowed through the exhaust hoses and leaked into the engine compartment.

Has anyone seen this problem (which seems like a design defect) and/or know of a cure?

Bob Hencken

Re: Stingray 190FX water problem

it's either a design defect or driver defect. i have a 19ft. starcraft & i've never had a wave crash over the stern. been boating for over 10 yrs. the cure? slow down before u come to a complete stop, so to speak.
