3n43p63od5O65Y25X1b3d273c7e4985091e8c.jpgThis weekend im going to look at a 72 chieftain. owner says its a 27 footer but all the information i have found said the biggest is 25 feet but the possibility of a 26 foot long one. Just looking for some clarification on this. It has the 250 inline six and also has a johnson kicker mounted on the back. Owner said it was in the water last year and was fully serviced at the end of the boating season. If anyone out there has some information on the length of these boats i would appreciate it. Thanks.

Welcome to the site:)

Great looking rig there...probably a 25' Chieftain. If they tried measuring it to check that would prove difficult since that cabin is in the way.

Maybe check the brochures, link is in my signature.

Hope you can get the boat:D

He is asking 2900 for it but said he would come down quite a bit. Im pretty sure its coming home with me. I have a 17' Crestliner and love the way it handles.

Re: 1972 starcraft chieftain

Well i officially bout my first starcraft. I got the fever!! The hull is in great shape other than a 3 inch spot where someone welded a gash i assume. It even has a 9.9 johnson kicker mounted on the back. I put the tape measure along the side and measured it at about 22'. It sure looked alot bigger in the pictures. But its the perfect size as we dont have many large lakes in our area. I will attatch a few pics.

Excellent! Congratulations! Welcome to the brohood man!

Even though I can't figure out how they were off by 5 whole feet on their measurement, she is a totally sweet ride, awesome!:D

Re: 1972 starcraft chieftain

Ill go out tomorrow and measure from outdrive to trailer tongue just to see. Tried to start it today but it has some wiring issues but the PO was upfront about that. Could only get a click out of the starter so picked up a new one and will try it tomorrow

Re: 1972 starcraft chieftain

That's funny. My buddy has a 21' and I was really thinking yours looked similar. Then I saw your newly posted picture and thought it really didn't look that big. CONGRATS!!!! FYI, that Johnson you got on there is about $600 right there. Nice deal. Here's my buddy's http://s176.photobucket.com/albums/w200/ezmobee/Chris Boat/?start=all It planes out nicely with only90HP outboard. Yours will do great with that inline 6.

The title should say how long it is. I have 21' cheiftain and that one looks similar in size to mine.
I also have a kicker mounted in the same place as yours.
