This is my 1977 Chieftain 25' I am in the process of replacing the Transom, Engine and Floor. Looking for any advice or lessons learned from those of you who may have attempted this project. We have it all stripped and just need to pull the engine and finish removing the bellhousing and gimbal. It appears to me that the transom drops in from the top, but I do not see any way to easily remove the top of the stern as it is one large piece that wraps around the gunwales. Any advice or tips are very much appreciated!!!

Nice project boat you got there. I'm sure there are some other chieftain restoration threads here that can help guide you. Good luck!

Welcome aboard

Nice big Chief you have there. :thumb:

The bigger Chiefs have a more difficult transom cover removal procedure than my 18'r. I have to believe that the cover is one piece that is attached to the gunnels. The rubrails will have to be removed enough in order to get the cover off. There are probably either blind or solid rivets as well that secure the cover to the gunnels.
