I've been looking for a Starcraft for awhile now and finally found one in my price range earlier this week. It's a 1983 15' Holiday. The sole is trash and I'll be dropping in a new transom with help from the many documented jobs on the forum.
The hull itself is in excellent shape, no dents or other damage. A few rivets were replaced with philips screws so I'll be taking care of those along with a leak test on the rest. The 1983 Johnson runs great as well. Compression is a little lower than I'd like but it will do for now. If all goes well for a season I might tear into it and do a re-ring and new bearings. One thing I've found somewhat unique is that this model/year came with seats in the back which I really like and I haven't seen any other pics of a Starcraft with them.

Thanks to all that have documented their re-builds, it really is a great resource.

Randy

Congrats on finding a boat.

What's a sole?

And if that 2ed pic is your boat, am I right in seeing that it's open bow? And aren't Holiday's closed bow?

More pics please.

Can you post some more pictures? That does not look like a Holiday to me.

Sole=deck=floor(for landlubbers)

That's about the only pic I have right now, it's labeled with tag as H-150. It looks just like the pic pulled from the 1983 brochure except mine is a bow rider which is another feature I really wanted.

Just remembered I had one more pic with a front view.

I may be wrong, but it looks like a Super Sport to me.

Yup, open bow and set back windshield make it looks like a Super Sport. The H-150 model # is on the capacity plate or somewhere else?

The Holiday in 83 had the HL-150 and the other Holiday models carried the HL designation based on that brochure.

:welcome: aboard and to the Starmada!

Sweet little Holly you found, not many of the 15'fs done but at least one here that had the same work done on it too with the bow cover cut out. I saw one on Craigslist last year by Seattle, it was a V5 Holiday 15'r.

Very cool little boats. :thumb:

Interesting boat.

Edit - I read the posted catalog - I see that the SS 15 and the H 150 were both new models offered this year. And clearly the H had the closed deck and the SS the open deck. Being that I have a SS with the wrong rating plate installed by the factory, it makes me wonder if that is the case here, that a H plate was installed on a SS boat.

post plenty of pics as you progress on this project,

Dan

Time to activate the Starmada detective division, because I have a feeling that is not something that many of us have ever seen!

Points to ponder..

OK detectives. The tag is definitely labeled as HL-150 and my hull id starts with STRH. Here are some more pics. You tell me, does this look like a factory bowrider or a later modification?

That is one of the oddest looking starcrafts I have ever seen and I am not saying that in a bad way..

To my eyes, that is a mod'ed Holiday, take a look at the following images,
close ups of the catalog pics posted above.
Note 1, where the windshield is relative to the trim strip on the side, and 2, the width and distance of the bow cutout to the ft light.

And the SS stern has a full width "cut out" the H has the high gunnel level sides.

I will be interested to track it down, the second image show a completely different splash well on the open bow boat.

It's a Holly with the bow cut out, look t the trim around the cutout, not factory at all. Also no bow rails that a the SS has and no such thing as a 15' SS.
