Oh man that stinks! I always ate the cats and stripers from the 16ss in Arizona at Lake Pleasant. Never had any issues. Gonna explore other striper fisheries here that are clean and friendly to a metal boat. I say that because the bay is close but I'm not sure if the boats big enough.

Otherwise 18footer motor issues are worked out, carbs all squared away. Now I start planning matetials and design for rebuild. Countdown begins.

Hey that's one of the mid 80's models with half lap sides, that's going to be a nice project boat as it looks to be in pretty nice shape :thumb:

Alright guys catch everyone up to date the end of the summer I stripped the boat and took the floor out and the transom pressure wash Shop-Vac check for leaks and I'm almost ready to flip and pre paint prep. Pics later at work now.

Rob Watermann how many gallons of Spar did your deck take? And then total with transom getting a shopping list together want to make sure it's complete.

I think I used a gallon can and the better part of 2 more quarts for all the wood.

best advice. In between stripping wipe excess stripper with cloth between sessions to keep clean surface. I'm going back over it all now to really clean up and detail before paint prep.

Yup! We wipe down with a wet cloth followed by a damp cloth, then finally a dry cloth. Works well. :encouragement:

Just about there, looks like you have some damaged rivets that may need replaced,

Yessir and the count goes up.... 🤣 nothing like glutton SHSU pretty sure this boat spent some time in salt. A few of the rivet heads popped right off while scraping paint. I am ready for that though.

The hardest part of this is being patient enough to do it right. I'm hoping to have port side done tonight. Got some free time after work. Then I'll finish rivet repairs and finalize paint prep. Hope to get the self etching and regular primer on this week. Maybe start painting next weekend.
